My Journey

I'm an undeserving husband, blessed father, spoiled grandpa, grateful Pastor, Personal Development Consultant, and Public Speaker. My personal journey consisted of growing up in a home of alcoholism and abuse. My world was one of inner-anger, resentment, despair, depression, and self-destruction and my perspective and lifestyle choices reflected those things.

In 1990 I was married to a woman who has truly proved to be God's perfect match for me. She has always challenged me to become a better man; and with her enduring love and support she has helped me from the beginning in pursuing a faith journey that would change the course of my life. Through that journey I discovered healing, forgiveness, and freedom from the pain of my past. Along the way I discovered small, yet significant, pieces to the puzzle of life and the bigger picture began to take shape.

Many times in my life I struggled to cope with fears, failures, and resentments; since the old coping mechanisms I had developed early on only ended up causing more pain and hurt. As I coped I'd built walls around me without even realizing it. Later, when I did realize I'd built them, I didn't know how to break down those walls. In fact, for the most part, I didn't even know why the walls were there in the first place. I lacked the insight I needed to be freed from my self-made prison that was keeping me from breaking out of the patterns of life that held me back. So, I began a journey to look for tools that would help me.

Through that journey I learned that the experiences in my life were intended to help me become who I was meant to be. I gained the perspective I needed and made the necessary adjustments in my own life to discover my potential and step into my future. Too many times I allowed my past to hold me back, until I realized that my past was the gateway to my future.

My journey, since 1990, has led me to influence people though working in law enforcement, youth leader, pastor, community service projects, programs ranging from children to adults, counseling, and much more. Through these opportunities I have witnessed people trapped in complacency caused by many different reasons in their own individual lives as I recognized the patterns, roadblocks, pitfalls, and strongholds that I wrestled with in my own life. Even years later when I faced a season of depression and burnout, I found the need to rely once more on the tools that had helped me time and time again to gain the right perspectives and move forward.

My passion has become one to encourage, challenge, motivate and equip people; young and old, to take a closer look at the world around them, and a deeper look at themselves and their lives to discover their potential and step into a more intentional and purposeful life.

It is my life's passion and purpose to continue to develop strategies, curriculum, services, and programs to influence and impact as many people as possible.

I am a former Full Time Law Enforcement Officer, now a Reserve Deputy, and currently serve as the Pastor of Gateway to Grace Church in a small western Kansas town since 2011. I am a strong advocate for the personal development and success of people in all walks and stages of life.

In 2013 I Co-founded and began serving as Chairman of the Northwest Kansas Fatherhood Advisory Support Team (F.A.S.T.) in association with the Northwest Kansas Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect in partnership with the Northwest Kansas Educational Service Center. Through this opportunity I have developed the 212 Degrees Fathering Challenge that teaches fathers how to Live to Leave a Legacy for their children and challenges them to sign a D.A.D. P.A.C.T. that encourages them to step up to that challenge.

In 2014 I was given the opportunity and responsibility to serve as a certified Northwest Kansas CTM (Community Trainer/Mentor) of the National Fatherhood Initiative - National Center for Fathering - Kansas Strong Dads project - Kansas Department for Children & Families.

In partnership with Head Start, Early Head Start, and SMART Start I've done presentations and classes on Nurturing Parenting, Parenting Together Project, Fatherhood, Family Advocacy, Stress Management, Child Abuse and Neglect, and have been trained to administer the ACE (Adverse Childhood Experience) Test.

In 2018 I formed C.O.M.A. Force from my personal experience and research to enhance my passion for assisting others in their personal protection and awareness of the growing dangers present in our world today. Such as human trafficking, and self-defense.

Gateway to Grace Church

I've been the Pastor at Gateway to Grace Church of Sharon Springs, Kansas since 2011. We are a non-denominational community Church. Our mission is simply to honor The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit collaboratively as The One True God. We strive to do this through worship, fellowship, and service in order to grow in our faith and share it with those around us by offering grace, encouragement, and inspiration while maintaining the truths of our faith lived out as the body of Christ.

We are a community of believers who realize that we don't have it all together, but strive to do our best to follow and honor Jesus' sacrifice for our sins.

Our Sunday morning schedule begins with Sunday School Small Groups at 9:15 am(MDT) for all ages followed by our Church Service at 10:30 am(MDT) with a free self-serve coffee bar.

Gateway to Grace Church is located at 201 E. Second in Sharon Springs, Kansas.
